Planning your trip – routes and timeframe
Getting from Hampstead to Heathrow Airport – first we take the A502 until we get on the N circular road and then curve southwards through Greenford. It is a neat 18, 5-mile ride – without traffic it can easily be covered in 35 minutes. But if you plan to travel during rush hour, plan your trip to be at least an hour.
Getting from Hampstead to Gatwick Airport – our route duplicates the approach to Heathrow for the first 17 miles; then we have to take the London Orbital to Caterham and afterwards the M23 to Horley. It is a long 65-mile drive that would take no less than 90 minutes.
Getting from Hampstead to Luton Airport – it is a 30-mile drive on the M1 motorway that may range from 40 minutes without traffic to over an hour if we hit traffic jams.
Getting from Hampstead to Stansted Airport – we use the N Circular to Woodford and then get on the M11 due north for an overall trip of 38 and a half miles that is covered in one hour.
